ANGAR BRINGS IMAN IN FLAVOURS OF FOLK

ANGAR, as a part of its habit now, has just recently organised another bright and brilliant cultural evening on 24 08 2013. the format of the show was the same - first the in-house team warmed up the stage by rendering two popular pieces accompanied with suave swings of steps and gestures by the talented young generation. the ease, grade and grace of the performance was of such class as to earne accolades from the audience and the chief artiste alike. thereupon iman chakraborty, the very young yet very impressive exponent of a whole range of Bangla songs took up the stage and created a blaze. her sweet yet powerful voice, with untiring zeal and extensive span, rendered a range of bangla songs including tagore numbers with folk flavour, original lalan fakir and hasan raja compositions, general regional folk songs and most interestingly, their transcreations by many masters. the full hall enjoyed in awe and joy the show as it streamed through a live demonstration of flowing folk formats. the programme ended with a dizzying display of sparking tunes sparkling through the souls of the elite audience. at the end, spectators were treated with refreshment, that too as per the long ANGAR tradition. the programme ended successfully with a dual confidence that the in-house ANGAR team performs quite up to standard, and in the hands of our young artistes, the tradition of folk songs will be quite safe and flourishing.

ANGAR ANNUAL PICNIC 6 1 13

ANGAR is by now famous for the classic cultural events it offers to the connoisseurs of Ranchi.

Those events radiate grace and excellence to cast a lasting spell on all who witness those.

The other face of ANGAR, the jovial and jubilant face, becomes evident at the annual picnics where the mood remains light, relaxing and refreshing.

this year the venue was the sprawling gardens of the lac research centre, ranchi.

the wonderfully cosy misty morning was enjoyed by everybody while hot breakfast with piping tea was relished by all.

then was the time for music; a team of baul singers from santiniketan filled the air with heady tunes of powerful music that swayed everybody into rhythm; even the most stern and rigid of the lot were pulled into the merry whirl of music and steppings. In-house talents, led by none other than shri Amal Kumar Debnath, also had a good going with the microfone.

the food was simply delicious, containing a large number of items, in contrast to the convention that picnic food is only made of  basic course.

after rubbing in the rustic freshness and soaking in a trance of music, the contented party returned home before dusk.
